Maria Juli (*1986 in Munich) is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Munich. She studied architecture and media art in Weimar and Helsinki.
Her work deals with human vulnerability and the tension between the individual and the community.
The party - The aim of the intervention is to create ambiguity in the context of the pop-cultural "positivity" movement. For this purpose, the party decoration, as a metaphor for joie de vivre, is linked with slogans that indicate great heaviness of life. This creates a contemporary memento mori that recognises both human dysfunctionality and human grandiosity in their simultaneity and without any judgement. Both themes are heightened by the dualism and thereby gain relevance. In this way, visibility, recognition and normalisation of different physical and psychological conditions of people within society is achieved. A space is created for the presence of the whole spectrum of human being.
