"I can't help but think of our students who paint in colour, love life and want nothing more than to live in freedom, dignity and peace"[1]
"Dar Al-Kalima is a Palestinian university with a focus on arts and culture that helps artists build society through creative work. The studies at Dar Al-Kalima prepare its graduates to actively shape their lives. "Dar Al-Kalima supports Palestinian civilians through education, international and cultural exchange.
The works on display document the stories of resilience of the citizens of Gaza, each photograph symbolising the story of resilience and highlighting the power of visual representations of how Palestinian artists perceive their surroundings. The photographs provide an insight into the nature of photography and its malleability - the ability to tell the truth, but also the possibility to create images from the individual psyche through imagination.
The photographers follow the footsteps of Karimeh Abbud and depict social changes like a seismograph. With their works, the artists show a unique insight into life in Gaza. Through photography, the artists from Gaza are given an opportunity to express their view of the world.
